Hello, my name is Erica Blocker and I am from Windsor Locks, Connecticut. I am a senior at Mitchell College and my major is Criminal Justice. I hope to some day work in the Forensic Science field. I have been a part of the Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation for two years as a tribal intern in the collaborative archaeological field school on the reservation with UMass, Boston. The internship included digging shovel test pits, excavation units and taking notes on what we found. The group I worked with found different things such as pieces of glass, ceramic, creamware, jackfield, silverware, screws, beads, bones, etc. It was an amazing experience.
I am currently working as a Community Scholar in the National Endowment for the Humanities historical and research project “On Our Own Ground, Pequot Papers.” I am also currently involved in the Wuttoantam Foundation. I am connected to this tribe by my paternal grandfather, Arthur Smith and his mother, Phoebe Esther Sebastian Smith. My interests include meditation, watching TV, Web Development, App Development, writing, drawing, and spending time with friends and family.
